Athletic Brand Guide

Athletics have always been a vital part of life at Emmanuel College. The Emmanuel athletic department is vibrant and growing, aggressively pursuing excellence in character as well as excellence in competition. The athletic programs at Emmanuel embody and amplify school spirit, while building a strong sense of community.


In addition, athletics are an integral part of Emmanuel’s strategic plan for future growth. By 2014, we will have grown from 10 intercollegiate sports to 30. Because of this emphasis on athletic growth, it is important to create and maintain an athletic brand that will help us to communicate the spirit of Emmanuel athletics to potential students, players, supporters and community members. Perhaps more than any other segment of the institution, our athletic teams serve as the public “face” of Emmanuel College. This position must not be taken lightly.


This brand manual provides information about the Emmanuel athletic brand. The athletic brand is related to — but distinct from — the institutional brand. While the mission of the athletic department must always support the mission of the institution as a whole, the positioning and personality of the brands differ. The guidelines in this manual are intended to help promote the athletic department clearly and consistently. They apply to all athletic apparel, uniforms, merchandise and multimedia communications.
